In observance of Thanksgiving Day, there will be no garbage or recycling collection on Thursday, November 27. Collection schedules will be adjusted as follows:
Thursday routes will be collected on Friday
Friday routes will be collected on Saturday
Additionally, the McCommas Bluff Landfill and all Transfer Stations will be closed on Nov. 27. Fair Oaks and Westmoreland Transfer Stations will have limited public hours on Saturday, Nov. 29, open from 7–9 a.m. only. This is necessary to accommodate garbage and recycle collection vehicles servicing delayed routes.

Alley-To-Curb Service Changes Paused
Survey mailed to customers with pick up in narrow alleys

The City has temporarily paused the plan to move trash and recycling service from alleys to curbs, which was supposed to start in January 2026. This break will give the Sanitation Department time to look at ways that could allow alley service to continue in areas where customers request it and understand that it may potentially come at a higher cost. The Sales and Use Tax Exemption Certificate for all applicable sales tax exempt accounts are due for calendar year 2025. All non-compliant accounts will be modified to remove the exemption after the deadline.
