Scope and Content

Collection consists of architectural plans and drawings of City of Dallas parks, green spaces, recreation centers, and park-related structures. 

As of 2023, the Dallas Park and Recreation Department offers 21,000 park acres through the Dallas park and recreation system, which includes 17 lakes, 182 miles of jogging and bike trails, 42 recreation centers, 1020 sports complexes, 412 parks, 21 pools, six 18-hole golf courses, four tennis centers, 243 athletic fields, two driving ranges, and the 106-acre Dallas Zoo.  The first city-owned park was City Park, which opened in 1876 with approximately 19 acres.

Some park names have changed over time; former known names are shown in parentheses in the container list.

All but one box's contents in this collection is an oversized object.
