American Recovery and Reinvestment Act 2009
Implementing the ARRA (Recovery Act)
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act 2009 (ARRA) is designed to inject money quickly into the economy by using pre-existing programs, criteria, and funding methods. Money will be distributed directly to federal agencies, states, and local governments using pre-existing funding formulas. Other funds will be made available through federal agencies via a competitive application process.
The City of Dallas will benefit from the formula funds already allocated, in the amount of $86.8 million, through direct funding of City of Dallas programs and through projects within Dallas funded through other agencies. Additionally, the City of Dallas has submitted applications requesting over $447 million in competitive grant funding. ARRA funding is available for a wide-range of projects including infrastructure improvements, energy efficiency, law enforcement, and housing.
