1. Why is a fire engine sent when I call for an ambulance? A fire engine is automatically sent as a first responder when a MICU is assigned to a Heart Attack, Unconscious Person, or a Major Accident type call. Additionally, if the assigned MICU is greater than 6 minutes away, then an engine will be assigned as a first responder. The engine personnel are trained to administer advanced first aid until the arrival of the MICU.

3. How can I get a copy of an EMS patient report? Medical reports for services provided by a Dallas Fire-Resue Ambulance are available at 1551 Baylor Street, Suites 300. Only the actual patient or a relative, with proper ID, may obtain these records, (214) 670-4311.
4. How do I request a tour of a fire station? To request a tour of a fire station or to schedule a fire engine to visit your site, call (214) 670-5466 Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
5. Do I need to register my Fire Alarm or Medical Alarm? The City of Dallas requires that Fire/Medical alarms be registered with Dallas Fire-Rescue after the first false Fire/Medical alarm is initiated at an alarm site. Registration Fee is $10. An alarm service fee is charged of $50 for resident and $100 for business for each false fire alarm notification in excess of one per month. A service fee of $100 is charged for each false medical alarm in excess of one per year. For information on registration and waiver of false alarm calls, contact Dallas Fire-Rescue at (214) 670-4514. 11. What is the best kind of fire extinguisher for my house? A multi-purpose fire extinguisher is best for the home. Look for the rating to be at least 2A:10B:C on the label. This extinguisher can be used on any type of fire commonly found in the home. It will often be labeled A-B-C.

15. Fire Inspections? All commercial occupancies within the city are subject to inspection by the Dallas Fire-Rescue. Inspections are initiated in a variety of ways: by request, citizen complaint, application for certain licenses/permits, and by routine inspection activity. The State of Texas has passed a law which states that to the extent which deed restrictions require the installation of wood shingle roofs, those deed restrictions are void. Deed restrictions which allow for choices of roof types are common, and they are legal. Typical deed restrictions give homeowners a choice of wood shingle, slate, or tile roofs. Dallas Fire-Rescue encourages homeowners associations to relax deed restrictions to allow high quality composition shingles which are not only reasonably priced, but offer a much higher degree of fire protection than wood shingles.
