This correspondence serves as follow-up to our April 15, 2013, email that assured you and your clients that the suspension of the Project Reconnect operations was only temporary.  We are announcing the new office location for the Project Reconnect Program.

Although we are operational, we will not be accepting any new client referrals at this time.

As you have undoubtedly seen in recent news coverage, the City of Dallas Project Reconnect program has experienced a temporary shutdown on Wednesday, April 10, 2013. However, we want to assure you and your clients that this shutdown is only temporary and that we are working to put interim City of Dallas staff in place to assist clients and partners during this period.

We ask for your assistance in communicating this information to your staff, your clients, and any other parties who might be interested. The City of Dallas is committed to minimizing the disruption in services for current Project Reconnect clients during this interim period.

Background

Project Reconnect is a comprehensive outreach program designed to provide reentry case management and community referrals to help non-violent offenders on parole transition into the Dallas community from a state or federal prison. Five (5) core components of the Project Reconnect program focus on pre and post assistance in the areas of employment, housing, education, recovery support and community service.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Non-violent offenders 18 or older
  • On parole
  • Live in the City of Dallas
  • Meet HUD low to moderate income guidelines

Program Criteria

Project ReConnect is for the formerly incarcerated person with a history of substance abuse, diagnosed mental illness, and/or diagnosed with HIV/AIDS.

What are the Benefits?

As part of "Project Reconnect" participants receive on-going case management designed for goal attainment for self sufficiency within a maximum of a 24-month period.

Support assistance is provided to participants by working closely with parole officers, educational, medical and social service agencies to provide resources to participants in the areas of housing, employment, education, counseling, medical, and recovery support services.
