Jaynie Schultz

Jaynie Schultz began her business career in 1988 when she and her mother designed, built, and operated Garrett Creek Ranch Conference Center in Paradise, Texas. The retreat center operated until 2013 when it was sold to Camp Summit, a camp for special needs children and adults. In 2009 Jaynie created Retreat Central, an online directory and marketing firm for camp retreat centers. Retreat Central was sold in 2018, and now Jaynie focuses on family investments, philanthropy, and volunteering. 

Her community service career began in 1988 when she joined the grants committee of the Dallas (now Texas) Women’s Foundation. 

In 2014 she was appointed to the Dallas City Plan Commission (District 11) which she served until September 2020 (Vice Chair 2019-2020). She chaired the Urban Design Committee (2014-2020), served on the City’s Market Value Analysis Committee, and sits on the Welcoming Communities Committee for the City of Dallas. Jaynie currently serves on the Muslim Jewish Advisory Council of the American Jewish Committee and the Akiba Yavneh Foundation. 

Jaynie is President of the Foundation for CityLab High School, a DISD Choice school for architecture, urban planning and design, and environmental studies. This school is the only high school in downtown Dallas. 

Nationally Jaynie serves the global community through the Advisory Council of We Repair, a global service organization.

  • Participant in JDC’s Project Interface and the American Associates of Ben Gurion University Zin Fellows 
  • Texas Israel Alliance 

Jaynie is an innovator and entrepreneur in both business and philanthropy. As President of the Schultz Family Foundation, she has led to the creation of many new programs such as the Schultz Fellows, LearningFest, the Center for Jewish Education and many others. 

Jaynie and her husband, Ron Romaner, have four children, Ben, Dalya, Adina, and Micah, and serve as the American home family to Dejene, Semegnew, Mekonnen and Mesfin Hodes, sons of the CNN Hero nominee, Dr. Rick Hodes of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. 

Jaynie has a B.A. in Government from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.A. in Urban Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington. She graduated from Skyline High School in 1978.
