Biography: Councilmember Pauline Medrano
Deputy Mayor Pro Tem
Pauline Medrano is a lifelong resident of Dallas and District 2. As the daughter of the late Esperanza and Francisco “Pancho” Medrano, Pauline appreciates the importance of hard work, taking pride in whatever you do and sharing knowledge with others. Her motto is “Your success is determined by how many you help”.
Pauline’s vision for District 2 and Dallas is based on her intricate knowledge of the issues that face District 2 and Dallas as a whole.
Pauline’s vision is to:
- Create a friendly economic development environment for District 2 and Dallas by working closely with neighborhood associations, business owners and developers who will be good neighbors. These types of partnerships create an environment that results in safe, clean and attractive neighborhoods. As a current Vice-President of the Dallas Visitors and Convention Bureau, Pauline intends to work to help bring more conventions to Dallas.
- Bring strong positive leadership to the city Council by building positive coalitions through mutual respect and professional courtesy. Pauline works with her colleagues to establish and implement goals, priorities and objectives for Dallas and District 2. Pauline’s common sense and practical approach provides positive leadership to resolve issues facing the City of Dallas.
- Is responsive to the citizens of District 2 and cares about the ”nuts and bolts” issues that face people everyday, such as potholes, compassionate code enforcement and a friendly, responsive City Hall, Pauline is accessible and devotes herself to being a full-time council member.
Pauline’s background, education and work experiences have prepared her well to take on the challenges at city Hall. She understands the political environment and is able to work with folks from all walks of life to achieve a common objective.
Pauline has worked as an ESL instructor for the Dallas Independent School District in the Adult Basic Education Department. She has also worked as the District Sales Manager for GTECH Corporation. She has served as the District Director for the Texas Department of Agriculture and as a Congressional aide to former U.S. Representative Martin Frost.
Pauline holds a B.A. degree in Political Science form the University of Texas at Arlington and is a graduate of Leadership Dallas. Her past and present community involvements include:

- Member of the National League of Cities; Community and Economic Development Policy Committee
- Chair of the Quality of Life Committee and member of the Trinity River Project, Housing, and Transportation & Environment Committees
- Member of Hispanic Elected Local Officials (HELO); Board of Directors November 2007
- North Central Texas Council of Governments, Regional Transportation Council; Sustainable Development Committee and the Transit Authority Partnership Committee
- Texas Municipal League; Resolutions Committee
- Board of Friends of the Esperanza “Hope” Medrano Elementary School
- Dr. Emmett Conrad Leadership Scholarship Committee
- Tutoring children form her neighborhood at her home
- Maple Avenue Economic Development Corporation

In her spare time, Pauline enjoys spending time with her 30 nieces and nephews. She has three brothers, Robert, Ricardo & Rolando.
