FEMA remapping effort of areas behind the levees
The Trinity River Corridor Project Committee was presented with this update regarding the current status of the 100-Year Dallas Levee Improvements.
Earlier this year, FEMA has recently announced that it will seek alternative methodology for remapping areas behind levees that are not certified. This announcement will delay Dallas’ pending Trinity River related floodplain maps.
Dallas Levee System Update
A presentation was given to the Trinity River Corridor Project Committee on February 8, 2011. This information provides an update of the progress on the 100-year levee remediation and an outline of the next steps including the estimated timeline for making the 100-year levee fixes.
Recap of Outreach Activities
During 2010, the City held meetings for the property owners behind the west levee. All of the information presented is the same for the meetings in 2010 and 2011.
Neighborhood meetings for 2011 began in January. View the presentation and information from the meetings, and learn more about FEMA as it relates to your home or business. The postcard below was sent to all property owners behind the east levee and Rochester that may be effected by FEMA’s remapping.
