Services
Emergency Social Services Program (ESSP)
The ESSP assists clients by providing:
- Temporary food assistance
- Rental assistance
- Utility payment assistance
- Community Voice Mail
Counseling and referral services include:
- Substance abuse
- Referrals for medical prescriptions to elderly and/or disabled clients
- Food Pantry Referrals
Eligibility screening for:
- Thanksgiving food baskets
- Christmas toys
- Fans in summer
- The Salvation Army Angel-Tree Project.
Appointments
Documents to bring at time of appointment:
- Current Texas I.D. or Texas drivers license for every adult in the household.
- Social Security Cards for everyone in the household.
- Proof of household income for the past 30 days.
- Utility bill–termination notice.
- Lease agreement or proof of home ownership.
- Eviction notice or mortgage delinquent notice.
- Receipts for bills/expenses paid in the last 30 days.
Depending on each client’s situation, additional information may be required.
Financial services are based on availability of funds.

All clients are seen by appointments ONLY,
no walk-Ins.
Appointments are scheduled by telephone only starting at :
9:00am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Seniors (60 years of age and older) may also call on Tuesdays starting at 9:00am.
The appointment line stays open until all next-day appointments have been scheduled.

Quick Facts
For the fiscal year of 2005-2006 the CCSSP provided:
- Counseling/Assessments for 3,136 new clients
- Financial Assistance for 712 households
- Thanksgiving baskets for 554 households
- Thanksgiving Dinner for 186 participants
- 91 fans for summer heat relief
- Assistance to 428 households/1,186 children for the Salvation Angel-Tree Project
- Service for 332 households/769 children through the MLK Toy Project
