Sustainable Development and Construction Peer Chacko, AICP New requirements for lobbying City officials The Strategic Planning Division is responsible for long term land use and transportation planning within the City of Dallas. This division consists of three main functions: Strategic Land Use advances citywide land use and economic policy initiatives such as the forwardDallas! Comprehensive Plan, the Trinity River Corridor Land Use Plan, and the Strategic Engagement Plan by developing comprehensive land development and infrastructure plans for strategic opportunity areas. This service is responsible for updating the forwardDallas! Comprehensive Plan and coordinating with the North Central Texas Council of Governments on annual population estimates and periodic regional growth forecasts. Transportation Planning provides planning and technical analysis for transportation projects related to thoroughfares, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, transit and freeways / tollways. It also focuses on identification of transportation-related infrastructure needed to support economic development. The service includes coordinating with other City departments, cities/counties, and regional/state agencies to plan and fund projects of mutual interest. This service is responsible for updating and implementing the Thoroughfare Plan and Bike Plan. GIS mapping provides mapping, data and applications for development-related activities such as addressing, zoning, platting, and permitting. This service is responsible for maintaining current zoning maps.
