The City of Dallas Building Inspection Department improves the quality of life for Dallas citizens by ensuring compliance with established construction standards and by enforcing City codes. The Building Inspection Department continues to commit to quality customer service with release of its new website. The development community now has access to a wide range of online business activities. Permits can be applied for over the Internet, and some permits can be paid for and immediately received through secure online transactions. The website allows contractors to validate and renew registrations online, track plan review comments, request inspections and have real time access to inspection results. In addition, the general public can search the website for information about development activity in the city, including whether a permit has been issued for a particular worksite and for what type of work. To access the website, click on "Applications and Inspections Online". The City of Dallas Building Inspection Department allows you to now submit your site plan for review and approval prior to completing the construction drawings for your project. This process should save you time by allowing the City to review your plans and give you feedback earlier in the design process. If the City does identify code problems with your project then you can work out the problems before applying for a building permit. When a site plan review is approved for your project the review time for your building permit is cut in half allowing you to get started building quicker. Details for making a site plan review submittal can be obtained at any of the Building Inspection offices. Note: Check this website often for the latest on service improvements and new procedures and remember you can access zoning maps and codes on this site. Inspection Division
