Youth Development Program

The Youth Development program engages youth 13-17 in hands-on, interactive activities. The program offers life skill activities, leadership development, career awareness, entrepreneurship, special events and community service.

Programs are enhanced through partnerships with corporate, business, faith based and other youth organizations.

Summer Activities - Just because school is out, we still have activities! Please contact us for a list of summer programs or contact your local recreation center.

Programs
Leadership Development: Focus on development of leadership skills, communication and team building skills, as well as specific tools needed to serve on advisory boards or committees.

Visual/ Performance/ Media Arts:  Youth  learn to develop communication  and self-respect skills, positive body image, and self-confidence while engaging in activities such as creative writing, drama and cultural dance.

Technology Club: Youth work with technology professionals to gain specialized skills creating websites, editing digital videos, producing music, graphic design and other exciting activities.

Health Fitness: Increase awareness of physical activities, nutrition and explore ways to enhance positive attitudes in youth regarding achieving a healthy lifestyle.

Gender Specific Programs: Youth will voice their experience, develop positive connections, and gain skills to pursue meaningful goals in education and relationships.

Career Development and Training: Youth will learn career development &  training skills which focuses on work ethics, professionalism, interviewing techniques, and customer service skills.

Entrepreneur Program: Youth will develop leadership and entrepreneurial  skills. The Program consists of educational sessions, a business tour, mini conference, mentoring, business plan development and producing a marketable product.

BuzzFree PROMises Dress Give-A-Way
Youth Development has joined with the ALOUD Coalition, to promote BuzzFree PROMises Dress Give-a-way, providing free prom dresses to eligible young ladies from DISD in grades 11 and 12.
