City of Dallas Closings and Schedules for
Martin Luther King Jr. Day Holiday

All City of Dallas offices will be closed on Monday, January 16, 2006, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday.

Residential garbage and recycling collection will be provided. All transfer stations and the McCommas Bluff landfill will be open as usual. The administrative offices of the Sanitation Services Department will be closed.

Other City of Dallas departments and services will operate as follows:

• All Dallas Public Library locations will be closed.
   
• The Dallas Police Department will operate on a normal schedule; however administrative offices will be closed.
   
• Dallas Fire-Rescue will operate on a normal schedule.
   
• The 911 and 311 Communications Center will operate on a normal schedule.
   
• Animal Shelters will be closed to the public. Animal control officers will respond to 311 emergency calls.
   
• Dallas Park and Recreation centers will be open to the public on Monday, January 16.
   
• The administrative offices of the Court and Detention Services and Municipal Court will also be closed on Monday, January 16, 2006. However, the Lew Sterrett Justice Center lobby, 111 W. Commerce will be open for customer service for Class C misdemeanor citations. The facility operates 24 hours/7days a week including holidays.
