MLK, Jr. Community Center to Host Juneteenth Celebration

The public is invited to attend the Juneteenth celebration at the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center. “Celebrate Freedom” is the theme for this year’s celebration. Visitors can enjoy the fun-filled family festival from 1-6 p.m., Friday, June 17 at the MLK Community Center, located at 2922 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

“The community looks forward to our Juneteenth celebration,” says M. Reneé Johnson, MLK Community Center, manager. “Last year the festival attracted over three-thousand visitors. This year’s event promises to be as enjoyable as in previous years.”

The festival will have something for everyone. Highlights of the festival include:

• Food
• Vendor Booths
• Live Music: rap groups, R&B soloists
• Keingz Ransom, singing group
• TeCo Theatrical Production: Unseen Teens
• K104.5 radio personalities
• KHVN Heaven 97 AM; radio personalities
• KRNB Old School 105.7 FM; radio personalities
• Games: Bounce Houses

Environmental and Health Services and Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center host the event annually. This year’s sponsors include: Rolling Out Magazine, Saturn of Mesquite/Duncanville, DART, State Farm Insurance, K104.5, KHVN Heaven 97 AM, KRNB Old School 105.7 FM, Dallas Park and Recreation Department, Dallas Weekly, and Coca-Cola Bottling of North Texas.
