Public Education Forums on Feeder Ordinance

Meal providers, churches, civic groups, charitable organizations and media representatives are invited to Public Education Forums to learn more about the Feeder Ordinance and its enforcement. The new ordinance requires that meals provided to the homeless be served at specified locations.

As part of the City of Dallas Meal Provider Program, Environmental and Health Services staff is matching organizations and agencies with meal providers. Agencies and churches interested in participating are asked to call Elnora Holland at 214-671-8530 to get on the list.

The Dallas City Council amended Chapter 17 “Food Establishment” of the Dallas City Code on June 8, 2005, changing guidelines for groups or individuals distributing food to the homeless. Environmental and Health Services inspectors will begin enforcing the ordinance February 2006.
