City of Dallas closings and schedules for

Winter Holidays and New Year’s Day

All City of Dallas offices will be closed on Monday, December 26, and Monday, January 2, 2006, in observance of winter holidays and New Year’s Day.

The administrative offices of the Sanitation Services Department will also be closed on December 26, 2005 and January 2, 2006.  However, the department will follow regular garbage collection schedule on both days.  The Sanitation Department will operate under the following schedule on:

Dec. 24, 2005:      All transfer stations will be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.  McCommas Bluff Landfill will

                                be open to the public from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m.  No garbage pick-up except for Central Business District.                

Dec. 25, 2005:     McCommas Bluff Landfill and all transfer stations will be closed.  No garbage pick-up, except for Central Business District.

Dec. 31, 2005:    All transfer stations will be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. McCommas Bluff Landfill will                                     be open to the public from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. No garbage pick-up except for Central Business District.      

Jan. 1, 2006:      McCommas Bluff Landfill and all transfer stations will be closed. No garbage pick-up, except for Central Business District.

Other City of Dallas departments and services will operate as follows:

·        Dallas Public Library

Thursday, December 22

Regular hours if usually open on Thursday

9 a.m.-5 p.m. if usually closed on Thursday

                Friday, December 23

9 a.m.-5 p.m. (all locations)

All libraries will be closed on Saturday, December 24; Sunday, December 25; and Monday, December 26. Regular hours will resume on December 27.

All Dallas Public Library locations will be closed on Sunday, January 1, and Monday, January 2.  Regular hours will resume on Tuesday, January 3. 

·        The Dallas Police Department will operate on a normal schedule; however administrative offices will be closed.

·        Dallas Fire-Rescue will operate on a normal schedule.

·        The 911 and 311 Communications Center will operate on a normal schedule.

·        Animal Shelters will be closed to the public. Animal control officers will respond to 311 emergency calls. 

·        Dallas Park and Recreation centers will be closed on December 25, 26 and January 1 and 2.

·        The administrative offices of the Court and Detention Services will also be closed on December 26 and January 2, 2006.  However, the Lew Sterrett Justice Center lobby, 111 W. Commerce will be open for customer service for Class C misdemeanor citations. The facility operates 24 hours/7days a week including holidays.
