Walnut Hill Branch Library receives a $10,000 donation from Crescent Real Estate Equities DALLAS , Feb. 28, 2005 – The Walnut Hill Branch Library was adopted today by Crescent Real Estate Equities, which donated $10,000 to benefit the children’s center. The Friends of the Library’s Adopt-A-Library program was the catalyst for this philanthropic endeavor by Fort Worth-based Crescent Real Estate. In celebration of Crescent’s 10-year anniversary, the company approached the Library seeking a project that would assist its neediest children’s area in the city. The monies will be used by the branch library to acquire children’s furniture, build colorful shelving, install new carpeting, install a mural, build stationary toys and generally make the area a fun and child-friendly place. Marsha Fogarty, President of The Friends of the Dallas Public Library; Laurie Evans, Interim Director of Libraries; Tim Bullard, Manager of the Walnut Hill Branch Library and JoAnne Mitchell, Children’s Librarian at the Walnut Hill Branch Library were on hand to receive the check for $10,000 from Jack Gardner and Susan Nash of Crescent Real Estate Equities. Mr. Gardner said “Crescent is very proud of its community accomplishments. Over the past ten years Crescent has partnered 52 schools with its properties across the country through its FACES of Change program. In celebration of Crescent’s 10-year anniversary, the company is donating $10,000 to libraries in each of its major markets to benefit education and children. The Walnut Hill Branch Library was chosen for its expressed needs in the area of children’s collections and services. ” In 2003, Frito Lay adopted the Martin Luther King Branch Library, and last fall Foley’s adopted the Hampton-Illinois Branch Library. The Adopt-A-Library program provides an exceptional opportunity for corporations to boost the Library’s projects and positively impact the community. ### |
