Annual Day in Fair Park invites you to explore, experience.
Imagine—one big day filled with special goings-on at almost every museum and attraction in Fair Park. Now THAT’S enough to keep everybody happy! Your wish comes true on Saturday, June 18 with the annual Day in Fair Park, a celebration of culture and entertainment for all ages.
So what will you do first?
- Pet wet sea creatures and giddy up for a Seahorse Rodeo at the Dallas Aquarium at Fair Park.
- Hang out at the Dallas Museum of Natural History’s Outdoor Adventure by tackling the rock climbing wall, going for pony rides or casting your attention at rod & reel demonstrations.
- Learn the colorful language of semaphore flags and some “Cool Moves” at the Science Place.
- Ponder weird wetland inhabitants (native and exotic turtles, frogs and toads) and soothing water gardens at the Texas Discovery Gardens Backyard Pond Celebration.
- Mellow out at the 30 th Anniversary Juneteenth Blues and Jazz Festival and Anniversary Picnic at the African American Museum.
- Gobble up a big ol’ Turkey Leg or other delicious treats for sale.
- Find a “find” at Buchanan’s Antique Market.
- Get all aboard the Kids’ Train Festival at the Age of Steam Railroad Museum and listen to a steam whistle demonstration and vintage 1905 calliope.
- Float lazily down Leonhardt Lagoon in a swan paddle boat.
- Be mesmerized by the famous images of photographer Annie Leibovitz at the Women’s Museum.
- Kick off the evening with an FC Dallas Soccer game in the Cotton Bowl.
- Just bring a picnic basket, sit back and enjoy Fair Park!
Most of the outside activities are free. The museums have recently launched the Fair Park Passport, which will get you into eight museums at a 40% discounted price. It’s good for 90 days. Note: you do not have to buy the passport to attend the Day in Fair Park celebration.
