Wildly Triumphant Return

Disney’s The Lion King roars into town at State Fair of Texas time.
Waves of wildebeests rush straight at you. Gazelles leap, cheetahs prowl and giraffes stroll grandly across the sweeping savannah at sunset. Most riveting of all, Mufasa commands his place of dignity on Pride Rock.

“You will never see anything quite like Disney’s The Lion King,” says Michael Jenkins, Dallas Summer Musicals President and Managing Director, of the award-winning Broadway musical’s long-awaited return engagement, September 20th – October 21st, 2007 at the Music Hall at Fair Park. The show closely follows the State Fair of Texas run. “Anything can happen right in front of your eyes, and the action is practically nonstop.”

So amazing is the wildebeest stampede in particular—when seemingly thousands of animals drive forward to charge young Simba and the audience—that Mr. Jenkins says he often runs out of his office just to see the spectacle. “These ingenious special effects have never been done before, and the experience is incredible for kids and adults alike.”

Over 60 actors, hundreds of African masks, dazzling puppetry, dramatic costumes and African rhythms seamlessly blend with the popular hits from the animated film by Elton John and Tim Rice like “The Circle of Life.” Tickets to Disney’s The Lion King are going fast, so don’t miss this magnificently staged family favorite.
